Miranda Trent

Tech, books, travel, about me, and whatever I am building next.

About Me

Hi, I am Miranda — or Mir, depending on who you ask.

I am a tech-minded, book-loving, travel-obsessed person who usually has at least three different interests going at once. I love learning how things work, building things from scratch, finding new places to explore, and disappearing into a good book when I need a break from everything else.

This website is my little corner of the internet — a place to collect the things I am working on, learning, reading, traveling toward, and generally getting overly invested in with time.

Tech & Creating

Technology has been part of my life for years, whether I am working with it professionally, learning something new, or deciding at an unreasonable hour that I should build a website from scratch.

I first started learning programming and technology through classes at Estrella Mountain Community College, where I worked with HTML, CSS, JavaScript, Java, Python, SQL, Linux, and other technologies. Some of it is familiar, some of it I am currently relearning, and some of it is still sitting somewhere in the back of my brain waiting to be useful again.

I enjoy the creative side of technology just as much as the technical side. Web design in particular gives me an excuse to combine coding, problem-solving, writing, colors, typography, and the occasional completely unnecessary design rabbit hole.

Books

Reading is a huge part of my life, and my taste is all over the place in the best way.

I love fantasy, gothic stories, classics, dark romance, cozy fantasy, and anything with an atmosphere strong enough to make me temporarily forget what century I am living in. I am equally capable of obsessing over a beautifully written classic and spending an unreasonable amount of time talking about fictional people making terrible decisions.

Eventually, this site will have its own space for books, reading, reviews, favorites, and whatever literary obsession I have fallen into next.

Travel & Exploring

I love getting outside, exploring new places, wandering through markets, walking near the water, and finding places with history, architecture, gardens, or a story behind them.

I have traveled through a good portion of the western United States and have called both Arizona and Idaho home at different points in my life. I still love going back to Arizona, and road trips have always been one of my favorite ways to see somewhere new.

I have also traveled internationally to England and France, which only made me want to see more. I am hoping to make it back to Europe in 2027, with plenty more places still on the list.

There will eventually be a travel section here too — partly for the places I have been, partly for the places I am planning to go, and partly because I need somewhere to put all the research I do before a trip.

Outside the Screen

When I am not working on something involving a screen, there is a good chance I am reading, spending time with friends or family, going out, wandering a market or greenbelt, hanging out by the lake, or finding some excuse to be outside.

I share my life with a calico cat named Nutmeg, who has absolutely no interest in technology but maintains a very strong supervisory role. Sindri also deserves an honorable mention as part of the extended cast of characters around here.

Mostly, I like having a lot of different things to care about. This site is going to grow with me as those things change — which is probably the whole point.
